Five Stories of God Moving Across Eurasia

At The Pocket Testament League, we often share impact through hard numbers and transformation stories. Today, we simply want to let five stories speak — each one a window into what God is doing across Eastern Europe and Eurasia right now.

Over the past several weeks, reports have been pouring in. Here’s what we’ve been witnessing.

Story 1: A New Generation Rising in Mongolia

Our partner Pavel and a team from Mission Eurasia recently traveled to Mongolia, where nearly 120 young believers gathered from provinces across the country for fellowship, discipleship, and encouragement. It’s a region many rarely think about — one where the Gospel is hard to find — yet God is raising up a new generation of leaders there.

What moved the team most wasn’t simply the number gathered, but what that number represents: young leaders who will return to their cities and communities carrying what they’ve learned. Among the most important things they carried home? That God’s Word is powerful. That sharing it leads others to Jesus. The photo captures a single moment, but the story will continue across Mongolia for years to come.

Story 2: Easter on the Streets of Siberia

Around Easter, a Mission Eurasia team in Novosibirsk — the largest city in Siberia — held an evangelism outreach in the heart of the city and its train stations. Despite significant challenges, they placed Easter-themed Gospels of John into the hands of more than 450 people.

Several young adults made decisions to follow Christ during the outreach. One young man attended church the very next day and publicly responded to an invitation to place his faith in Jesus. From simple obedience on a street corner, to eternal change. That’s how it works.

Story 3: Seeds Planted in Buryatia

Buryatia is a remote region of Russia just above Mongolia — a place where many villages have no evangelical church. Mission Eurasia teams traveled from village to village, sharing the Gospel and distributing newly printed Gospels of John in the Buryat language.

In one village, they met a woman named Sanjida, who had endured significant hardship and loss. After hearing about Jesus, receiving prayer, and being given a Gospel in her own language, she expressed openness to learning more. Another woman, Marina, was moved simply by seeing fellow Buryats come to speak with her about Jesus. These conversations are opening doors for ongoing relationships and future home groups — seeds planted in fertile ground.

Story 4: No One Left Out in Khonchino

Also in Buryatia, the team met a deaf and mute woman in the village of Khonchino. Through written communication, they shared the Gospel with her — and she eagerly accepted a Gospel of John to keep reading. They also reconnected with a man named Alexey, who recently suffered deep personal loss and is now open to fellowship and reconnecting with God.

In many of these areas, there are still few — or no — evangelical churches. But the team at Mission Eurasia is committed to returning. The ground is fertile, and the visits continue.

Story 5: Hope in a War Zone

At the end of April, a young leader from Mission Eurasia traveled from Moldova into southern Ukraine with a small team of believers. The towns they visited were not far from the front lines, where the sound of shelling is a constant reality.

Their goal was simple but significant: spend time with children in local boarding schools and share the love of Christ. Over two days, they held four gatherings — playing games, building relationships, and sharing hope. More than 100 children and teenagers were reached, each receiving a small gift and a pocket-seized Gospel of John in Ukrainian. One photo from the trip captures a child quietly reading the Gospel. That image says everything.

What’s Ahead

As we look forward, we are continuing preparations for Gospel outreach in Mongolia and Azerbaijan — both new areas for The Pocket Testament League. In Azerbaijan specifically, we are seeking the necessary governmental permissions to get Gospels into the country, and we would deeply appreciate your prayer for wisdom and favor in that process.

We also want to personally invite you to our next Around the World Call on June 9, where our friend Pavel will share more directly about the ministry happening across these regions. You can register here.

Thank you for praying for The Pocket Testament League as we work to see people everywhere meet Jesus — one Gospel at a time.
