Hope Blossoms in Cambodia
Most weeks, we share updates about broad regions of the world where God’s Word is changing lives. Today, we want to narrow the focus to one nation that holds a special place in our hearts: Cambodia.
According to Joshua Project only 1.4% of Cambodia’s population is evangelical, and more than 98% live within unreached people groups. Yet even in this seemingly hard soil, seeds of hope are taking root.
At the Lausanne Conference in South Korea, we met a League Partner serving faithfully in Cambodia. Like all new partnerships, we started small with just 5,000 Gospels. The fruit of that first step of faith has been incredible.
One story continues to inspire us. A young boy was helping deliver Gospels on his bicycle. Somewhere along his route, the message he was carrying became the message that changed his life. There, on that dusty road, he placed his faith in Jesus Christ.
Every Gospel in that shipment was printed with a “Hope Blooms Everywhere” cover. The response has been beautiful. One of our partners shared, “Many of our church planters have shared how effective these Gospels are in starting spiritual conversations and pointing people clearly to Jesus Christ.”
Church planters across Cambodia are taking these pocket-sized Gospels into villages, homes, and communities where many have never heard the name of Jesus, not even once. They are seeing hearts open and lives change.
In the Preah Vihear region near the border of Thailand, our partners recently delivered 200 food packages to families devastated by local fighting. Each package contained not only food and supplies but also a “Hope Blooms Everywhere” Gospel. The partner shared, “In a place where they felt forgotten and caught in conflict, the Gospel helped them feel the living love of Jesus.”
Their vision continues to grow. This year, they are preparing to mobilize 1,000 church planters across Cambodia, each equipped with 20 Gospels to share. That means 20,000 personal invitations to meet Jesus in His Word.
As we have expanded our digital outreach, Khmer (pronounced Kah-MY), the primary language of Cambodia, became one of the newest additions to our app. Our partner is learning how to use this tool in outreach, and we anticipate nearly 10,000 downloads in Cambodia this year alone.
People are searching, and through the printed page and digital screen alike, God’s Word is finding them.
Thank you for standing with us in this mission. Your prayers and partnership make it possible for hope to truly bloom in the most unexpected places.
