In the Midst of Violence, Hope Is Moving

Lately, it feels like violence fills our screens. News of conflict between Iran and Israel, Russia and Ukraine, Pakistan and Afghanistan seems unending. Perhaps that is why we rarely hear about the violence taking place against Christians in Africa.

Current Situation in Africa

Between December 29 and January 1, 58 Christians were killed and more were abducted. On January 18, another 35 were killed with additional abductions following. This article provides a sobering overview.

As we draw near to Easter, we see a powerful truth emerging. The Gospel continues to move forward even in the midst of violence. In regions where pressure is greatest, God is opening doors and hearts are being transformed.

Right now, pastors and partners across South Africa and Nigeria are preparing to share 175,000 Gospel invitations before Easter. They are using the Gospel of John to help people meet Jesus and understand His love. Spiritual Hunger Rising

As persecution increases, so does spiritual hunger.

A few weeks ago, a League Partner in Johannesburg shared that hundreds in the Alexandra community have come to faith in Christ. Many are being discipled, baptized, and growing in their new relationship with Jesus. One church leader told us:

“These Gospels give new believers a strong foundation. We confidently go out to share the Gospel, knowing we can leave people with something they can read again and use to deepen their relationship with Jesus.”

God is clearly on the move.

As this spiritual momentum builds, we are also seeing incredible excitement around the PTL App. Several partners across Africa with influence spanning multiple nations are test driving the new version and preparing to use its “Communities” feature to engage seekers in discipleship.

The numbers tell the story of what God is doing:

  • Last year, more than 2 million people across Africa downloaded God’s Word through the PTL App.

  • This year, the rate is accelerating, and we expect over 3 million people to download God’s Word and encounter Jesus.

God is drawing people to Himself in ways that only He can.

A New Doorway to 100 Million People

This week brought another major step forward. By God’s grace, our team is nearing the addition of Swahili to the PTL App.

This one language opens potential access to 100 million people across East Africa and creates new opportunities for digital discipleship and growth. It feels like a direct answer to prayer and the beginning of something much larger.

Prayers for This Week

As the Gospel advances in Africa, we invite you to join us in prayer for:

  • Believers facing persecution in Nigeria and across the continent

  • The 175,000 Gospel invitations going out before Easter

  • The right partners to stand with us in reaching Africa

  • The final steps in Swahili translation and the launch of new digital communities

Thank you for leaning in, standing with The League, and helping people meet Jesus.
