A Seed Re-planted
Frequenting one particular restaurant quite often, Gail and her husband always give out pocket Gospels with a generous tip. She doesn’t always get the chance to talk to their server. When that happens, Gail just leaves a Gospel on the table with a tip. She recounted,
My husband and I go out to eat quite a lot.
I always leave a Gospel of John with a generous tip.
I usually try to talk to our server for a few minutes if possible.
One day their server was a woman who had waited on them frequently. When she handed them their bill, Gail held out a Gospel of John to her and said that she had a gift for her. She expressed,
From visit to visit to this restaurant, I can’t remember which server
I have already given the Gospels to with the tip.
I encouraged the woman to read it and let her know it changed my life.
Gail didn’t want to press the woman with conversation because she was so busy… but her server stopped for a moment to talk. Gail revealed,
Our server took hold of my hand and said,
“You gave me a booklet a few weeks ago when you were here.
My dad had just died, and I read the Gospel as soon as you gave it to me”.
Their waitress had tears in her eyes as she spoke, and she went on to tell Gail that the Gospel gave her comfort as she read it. She expressed her gratitude to Gail for sharing the Gospel with her. Gail realized that she had re-planted a seed and God is in control.
