but at the age of fifty, they must retire from their regular service and work no longer.

Interesting verse Retirement at fifty, I can see that back then, by moving the tent of meeting, and by performing the duties of lifting the Tabernacle furniture in the wilderness required strength, and can take a toll on a persons body.

Numbers 7:88
The total number of animals for the sacrifice of the fellowship offering came to twenty-four oxen, sixty rams, sixty male goats and sixty male lambs a year old. These were the offerings for the dedication of the altar after it was anointed.

Each tribe apparently provided the appropriate offerings that were required by the Lord, not only for their sin offerings but also to accomplish the work about the temple. Another difficult chapter to make a choice for comment but the Israelites were obviously obedient to what the Lord desired.

Lloyd just sitting here looking at our insight to the book of Leviticus and Numbers, we know there is a purpose, and for the most part these books and the rituals all point to Jesus Christ, and to what He did on the cross for the sins of the world. Simple solution, Romans 10:13 for "Everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved. Be washed in the Blood of Jesus and Believe that He arose from the dead. Keeping in prayer the change in Israel.

Wow what an interesting chapter, 12 tribes, 12 days, 12 offerings to dedicate the the alter, the alter of of Old Testament Prophets for the atonement of sin. (to sacrifice unblemished animals) On the alter of the Cross Jesus, the Son of God(free from sin) was the once and for all Sacrifice for the Sins of The World.

Wow is right Peter. What an amazing amount of animals and silver, gold and grain offerings. Praise God that He sent Jesus as our one time offering, and at such a price. I would definitely have a difficult time offering up my child to such a horrendous death as Jesus had to pay for us. Such a blessing we have through Christ. Be blessed and encouraged brother, as we continue to study His word. :-)

Leviticus 17:15
" 'Anyone, whether native-born or foreigner, who eats anything found dead or torn by wild animals must wash their clothes and bathe with water, and they will be ceremonially unclean till evening; then they will be clean.
Wendy C.
Wendy C. from Port Colborne, ON said:
The people weren't to eat anything found dead or where other animals have gotten into these dead animals because the dead animals are very dirty especially if touch by other dirty animals. This why the people have to bathe and have clean clothes it's for purity. 🌷

Numbers 6:20
The priest shall then wave these before the Lord as a wave offering; they are holy and belong to the priest, together with the breast that was waved and the thigh that was presented. After that, the Nazirite may drink wine.

Another difficult chapter to choose a verse. The expense and rituals of the dedication of the Nazirites to the Lord was quite extensive. It is obvious that they must be serious to go through all of the dedication, offerings and rituals to make that dedication.

Peter B. from Buchanan, MI said:
A lot of the rituals in the Old Testament are extensive, but through these rituals it's a call to Holiness. And we know that holiness comes from God by Grace. May the Blessing of God continue to strengthen you brother.

" ' "The Lord bless you
and keep you;
Peter B.
Peter B. from Buchanan, MI said:
Here we see the Lord telling Moses how to bless Israel, (three times) The Lord bless you, the Lord make His face shine upon you, the lord turn His face toward you and give you Peace. And as Christians what does 3 remind us of, The Holy Trinity: The Lord Bless you (God the Father) The Lord makes His Face Shine upon you(Jesus) The Lord Turn His Face toward you and Gives You Peace. (Holy Spirit)
Lloyd S.
Lloyd S. from Trenton, ON said:
Very well expressed, Peter. The Trinity is difficult to understand for some people, how one God can be in three persons, all of whom are equally God. I have never had difficulty with it myself but I know some who have. If we think of God as a human, then it would be difficult but when we realize the magnitude of our God, being so far beyond being human. Though He came to earth in the form of a human (Jesus) He is still far beyond anything we can even imagine. God bless and continue to inspire you my brother in Christ. :-)

and must confess the sin they have committed. They must make full restitution for the wrong they have done, add a fifth of the value to it and give it all to the person they have wronged.
Lloyd S.
Lloyd S. from Trenton, ON said:
To me, this would be a sign of, and a means of repentance. As we know, in the New Testament, there is to be confession and repentance. (1John 1:9  If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Luke 13:3  I tell you, No. But unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.) There is always a price to be paid for sin, and Christ provided the ultimate price for the sins of the world but we still are required to confess and repent of those sins, and we are washed clean by the shed blood of Christ. Praise the Lord for His grace and mercy.
Peter B.
Peter B. from Buchanan, MI said:
Amen Lloyd, Repentance and Confession is key all through out Gods word. As we see in the story of Zacchaeus the tax collector. As you stated there is always a price for sin. Have a Blessed week.

Restitution is a biblical concept in the Old Testament of the law, which was also mentioned in Leviticus about restitution. Again a difficult chapter. Today when someone becomes a Christian he has a desire of deep conviction to do good, as a Christian we should make some form of restitution that repentance is called for. You don't need to feel guilty to make fully restitution. Restitution is not required for salvation, if you receive forgiveness of sins through Faith in Jesus Christ your sins are forgiven.

Wow. Once again we chose the same verse and expressed very similar trains of thought. Haven't heard yet how the Israeli elections turned out but I pray they turned out well for the protection of Israel and I have always liked PM Netanyahu, and I'm sure we'll hear very shortly, as it would be about 5:00 am on the 18th over there now. Have a joyous week brother Peter. :-)

Numbers 4:49
At the Lord 's command through Moses, each was assigned his work and told what to carry.

Thus they were counted, as the Lord commanded Moses.

Lloyd S. from Trenton, ON said:
Throughout this chapter the mature males, between 30 years and 50 years, were assigned their part of the work as the tent of meeting was to be disassembled and moved to the next camp site. Each tribe was assigned a different but specific task to carry out the moving of the tent of meeting. It rather paints a picture of today, where different person or groups of people have specific tasks in the body of Christ to continue the spreading of the gospel of Christ. 1Cor 12:28  And God set some in the church, firstly, apostles; secondly, prophets; thirdly, teachers, then works of power, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, kinds of languages.
Peter B.
Peter B. from Buchanan, MI said:
It is amazing how many men had taken part in moving the tent of meeting. And its so different today, as we are the Church, the Body of Christ and the temple of the Holy Spirit all in one. For where two or three gather in My name, there am I with them Matthew 18:20. You can be in Canada or Michigan and our God will be there. Keeping in Prayer for the elections in Israel.
