Deuteronomy 2:7
The Lord your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands. He has watched over your journey through this vast wilderness. These forty years the Lord your God has been with you, and you have not lacked anything.

When I was 40, we were unable to get work. We lost our home, ended up homeless for a two week journey, arriving in the "wilderness"; the subarctic city of Thompson, Manitoba. All I knew is that we would be strangers in a new land (I'd never heard of Thompson before this) and that Jesus never even had a pillow for His head. Though we didn't have a solid roof overhead, we at the very least had a tent, a place to shower, and we had found people who were just about fighting over who would take us in out of the snow. I'd prayed for a church where my family would feel welcome and the church found us! We weren't eating steak, oh, yes, we were! The pastor and his wife cooked up a steak dinner for us. Otherwise, we were eating pretty simple foods, but we never got to a point of going without. My sons, who journeyed with us, now appreciate having basic necessities such as running water and electricity. Their need for luxuries has really subsided. We might not have had what the world insists we need, but we had all we needed to survive and actually be quite comfortable. God's blessing was with us, every step of the way.

Here we see Wondering in the Wilderness for 40 years was a challenge for Israel, because of them not trusting and obeying God. And as this verse stated He watched over their journey through the wilderness for 40 years, and He still blest them. As Christians we are challenged daily, and on our own journey, a journey of being born again and having Eternal Life with Jesus. We must not forget our destination, our everyday walk(through scripture) brings us closer to God. This world is not our home Amen and Amen!

Amen to that Peter. Though we have all kinds of testimonies of what heaven is like, it's hard to really grasp hold of life there, since our world is in such a turmoil. We surely need a moving of Holy Spirit to transform this world. There's been much prayer for tomorrow, our election day, which surely has been needed due to our current government. Still praying regarding the obvious false attacks against your president too, Peter. Be blessed and encouraged as we begin another week of waiting on the King of kings. :-)

God's Blessings: For forty years God was with Israel in the desert. We are Blessed by God because of His Grace. We as Christians are Blessed every day by being in God's word, teaching us as He watches over us on our journey as a foreigner in this world. Matthew 28:20 And teaching them(us) to obey Everything I have Commanded you. And surely I am with you Always, To The Very End of The Age."

We need to trust our Lord for all our needs as He knows us better than anyone or anything and knows the exactly what we need. For He is with us always and if we would just stop and look back at the past.....hasn't He brought us through what we thought we could not get through? Sometimes we may not always get things we want, but He gives us what He sees that we need.

You got that right Sherry. This was going to be the verse I choose too yet I went with verse 14. Yes He sure does provide our needs not necessarily our wants .

Even though I live in a different time and have only had a few short "wilderness" experiences, I can also say with confidence that, "These forty years the Lord has been with me and I have not lacked anything". Thank you for your steadfast love and faithfulness and provision and always being there. I praise You, O Lord.
