Numbers 33:55
" 'But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land, those you allow to remain will become barbs in your eyes and thorns in your sides. They will give you trouble in the land where you will live.
Peter B.
Peter B. from Buchanan, MI said:
Key Phrase:(They will give you trouble in the land where you will live) This is an interesting and difficult chapter, but can label it the Travels of the Israelites from Egypt to the Promise Land. And in this verse they failed to drive out the Canaanites from the land, and by there act of disobedience, they still possessed the land. And because of their act of disobedience they fell into the corrupt practices of the Canaanites, that continues today.

Lloyd S. from Trenton, ON said:
Amen to that Peter. Sure would be a lot less troublesome if they had been obedient to the Lord's command at that time. I love the people of Israel but such troubles they face every day from terrorism. May the Lord's peace be upon you and yours, brother Peter. :-)

makes me wonder how much the failure to drive out ALL of the inhabitants of the land has led to or fed the turmoil present in that area through the years.

Very true, Rebecca. I think of the Palestinians, who are a constant threat and danger to Israel today, raining terror upon Israel continually. If only they had obeyed God and killed them all as directed, what a different Israel there would be today. God bless.

Yes Rebecca and Lloyd, the very people they didn't drive out then are the ones giving us all the problems today. Just like the Agagites with King Saul. When we disobey God, we never realize all the repercussions. To obey is better than sacrifice.

i wonder how many things God has asked me to drive out of my life that i have let remain. i wonder what my life would be like today if i fully obeyed. i wonder what my life will be like next year if i clean house today. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

If the Israelites don't drive out the inhabitants of the land He is given them, He will do to the Israelites what He plans on doing to the inhabitants of the land.
