Numbers 36:8
Every daughter who inherits land in any Israelite tribe must marry someone in her father's tribal clan, so that every Israelite will possess the inheritance of their ancestors.
Lloyd S. from Trenton, ON said:
Certain lands had been allotted to each tribe of the Israelites but if there was no male to inherit the land as it was passed down, hen it was to be passed to the daughter. Then if the daughter married a member of one of the other tribes, then the inheritance would be passed to a different tribe. Therefore, the daughters who inherited land, were forbidden to marry outside their own tribe, so that their land would remain within the tribe to which the Lord had given it.
