Standing With the Church in India: Faith That Will Not Be Silenced

At the start of December, The Pocket Testament League sent out 125,000 Gospel invitations into the heart of India, Scriptures requested by pastors passionate about sharing Christ in places where faith often comes at a cost.

Since then, League Partners on the ground have kept us updated as the spiritual temperature across India continues to rise sharply. His latest message was sobering:

“Resistance was much more than expected. It turned violent in almost all places . . . a coordinated effort to stop believers from sharing their faith. Hindu extremists tore Bibles and hymn books and burned them. Many of our evangelists are being hunted under anti‑conversion laws. It is very tense—but God is in control. Women are standing boldly for their faith, and pastors continue reaching people despite threats.”

Persecution during the Christmas season reached new levels of intensity across India, which now ranks #11 on the World Watch List for Christian persecution.

On social media, one of our Indian pastors shared what happened when he and his wife, along with another couple, went to bless a Christian mother in a nearby village. A radical mob discovered them, attacked, and held them hostage. They were mocked, beaten, and forced to burn their own Bibles, yet even in the face of humiliation, they refused to renounce Christ.

Their response echoed Acts 5:40–41, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer for the name of Jesus.

The Light Still Shines

In the midst of escalating hostility, we’re witnessing remarkable courage. Across India, Christians are standing firm. Pastors keep preaching. Families keep praying. Women and children keep testifying that Jesus is Lord.

And The League stands with them.

In just the past month, more than 600,000 people, through both print and digital invitations, have received the opportunity to meet Jesus. As threats increase, so does spiritual hunger. The darker the night, the brighter the Gospel shines.

Recently, our partners in the Assam region, near the Chinese border, shared photos from their Christmas outreach:

“We are visiting village after village, home after home—sharing the Gospel and giving a copy in their own language. People are spiritually hungry, eager to understand salvation, and asking for prayer for their families. They wait patiently to hear the message.”

How You Can Pray

  • Pray for boldness, protection, and perseverance for pastors and believers across India.

  • Pray for invisibility from those who would seek to stop them.

  • Pray that God’s Word would continue to move, from hand to hand, heart to heart, until every soul has met the Savior.

Even amid persecution, the Gospel is unstoppable. God’s Word will not return void. And because of faithful partners like you, thousands are encountering Jesus. right now. in some of the hardest places on earth.
