The Gospel Is Still Getting Through in China
There are places in the world where faith lives quietly. Where belief grows under threat and penalty, but grows nonetheless. China is one of those places. And regardless of the persecution, the Gospel continues to break through.
Recent reports highlight increasing pressure on believers and churches, marked by surveillance, harassment, and arrests of Christians and church leaders. Many are calling this one of the most restrictive periods in recent years. And still, the Gospel is going forward.
A Family Meal. An Eternal Moment.
During the recent Chinese New Year, a season centered on family and tradition, one League Member returned to their hometown to spend time with extended family. In the moments of shared meals and long conversations, they openly and boldly shared the Gospel with two unbelievers, their aunt and uncle.
Both placed their faith in Jesus.
Before the week ended, a Gospel of John, printed in China, was placed into their hands with an encouragement to read one chapter each day as they begin this new life in Christ. No crowd. No platform. Just one family, one conversation, and a moment whose impact is eternal.
50,000 Gospels and a Hunger That Cannot Be Stopped
That same update reminded us of something we hold onto with great hope. Despite real challenges, the hunger for God’s Word among believers in China remains strong. Right now, The Pocket Testament League is working to finalize 50,000 Gospels of John for pastors across the country, with additional opportunities for up to 100,000 more later this year.
And the hunger is not only physical. It is digital as well. In the past six months alone, there have been nearly 850 downloads of the PTL App in China. Even with government firewalls and restrictions firmly in place, God’s Word is still getting through.
We are hopeful that a future update will include not only stories of these Gospels going out, but images of the newly printed copies. Those photos can be difficult to receive, as many wisely hesitate for safety reasons. But we trust the same God who opens hearts will also make a way for His Word to go forward, confident that where it goes, it does not return void (Isaiah 55:11).
Will You Pray With Us?
Please join us in praying for these 50,000 Gospels, for the possible opportunity to distribute many more, and for boldness among believers who share Christ in the midst of persecution. Pray that many across China will encounter Jesus for the very first time.
The Gospel is still getting through. And we will not stop until it reaches every hand.
