When Faith Is Forbidden, the Gospel Still Finds a Way

Sometimes, being at the top of a list isn’t cause for celebration.

According to the 2026 World Watch List from Open Doors, Pakistan once again ranks among the top 20 countries where it’s most dangerous to follow Jesus. In fact, eight neighboring nations in the Middle East appear on that list as well.

And yet, in those very same eight countries, more than 2 million people have been invited to meet Jesus in just the past four months through both print and digital Gospels of John.

When we stretch that map a bit farther east to include India and Bangladesh, the number of invitations rises to 4 million. These are among the hungriest regions on earth for God’s Word, even as persecution intensifies.

William: League Partner in Pakistan

Pakistan sits at number 8 on the Watch List, a nation known for deep religious tension and harsh blasphemy laws that often target Christians. And yet, God is moving.

Two weeks ago, our CEO sat down with William, League Partner in Pakistan. Despite the danger surrounding him daily, William’s joy in Jesus radiates through every word he speaks.

“We have seen multitudes of Muslims,” he shared. “They are hungry for Jesus. Millions and millions.”

William’s faith and courage remind us that the Gospel cannot be silenced. His ministry is filled with stories of unlikely seekers who risk everything to encounter the living Christ.

One such story lingers with us: a mosque leader and Islamic university professor who persistently requested a Gospel of John. Quietly, without fanfare, he attended a rally. There, he said, “I will not just read the Word. I will eat the Word and share it.”

That day, he met Jesus and walked away with 50 copies of the Gospel to share inside his mosque and among his students. Imagine that.

The Hour Has Come

In John 12, when news reached Jesus that people outside Israel wanted to meet Him, He exclaimed, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.” Later in verse 32, He declared, “And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.”

Today, we see this promise fulfilled. From mosques in Pakistan to digital screens across Asia, Jesus is drawing people to Himself just as He said He would.

How You Can Pray

Please join us in prayer for these three needs:

  • For the continued spread of the Gospel across Pakistan and the surrounding region.

  • For our new APP Community feature, which integrates William’s ministry. Each month, his team receives over 8,000 calls. We’re working to equip each caller with a digital Gospel, multiplying the reach of God’s Word.

  • For William’s visa renewal for himself, his wife, and their four daughters, so they can safely return to the U.S. for ministry development.

And please continue to pray for The Pocket Testament League as we partner with believers like William across the globe. Together, through both print and digital tools, we’re seeing multitudes meet Jesus.

Until all are invited.
