When Pressure Propels the Gospel Forward

Torque is the force that moves things forward when pressure is applied. Mechanics know this well: twist a wrench, and motion happens.

In many ways, that same principle applies to the Kingdom of God. When the world tightens its grip and opposition increases, the Gospel doesn’t retreat but advances.

Across China, this truth continues to unfold with striking clarity.

The government has been “tightening the screws” on Christians, restricting online sermons, raiding house churches, and detaining pastors under charges such as “illegal gatherings.” It’s an effort meant to silence faith. Yet as believers in China draw closer to God, the Gospel keeps pressing forward with unstoppable power.

We are continually receiving updates and testimonies from faithful men and women whose courage stirs our hearts. Even under the watchful eyes of authorities, they choose to obey God rather than give in to fear. They open their homes, share their faith, and pass along the Gospel of John, page by page and prayer by prayer.

Walking Seekers Through God’s Word

In Hainan Province, Lina C. and her friends have created what they call “The Happiness Group,” a small evangelism team that invites seekers on an eight-week journey through Scripture.

Each week, they hand out Gospel of John booklets, share testimonies, read together, and discuss the truths found in God’s Word. Ten seekers gather weekly, some already baptized believers, others still seeking, yet all drawn toward the light of Christ.

Because printing Gospel booklets is difficult under current restrictions, each copy is treated as a treasure, used carefully and prayed over intentionally. Every booklet becomes a missionary in its own right, carrying the hope of salvation to those who read it.

A Divine Appointment on the Road

Wei L. is a new believer, but already his heart burns to share Jesus. During a recent business trip, he felt prompted to speak with a young man he met at his hotel.

As they talked, Wei reached for the small Gospel of John he carried and began explaining the love of God found in its pages. The young man listened with an open heart, one that God had clearly prepared in advance. By the end of their conversation, he chose to follow Christ. Right there in that hotel, another life was changed for eternity.

Christmas Seeds That Will Bear Fruit

In another part of China, Daniel’s church hosted a Christmas event that welcomed more than twenty people curious about the faith.

The evening centered on the story of Jesus’ birth, but the focus was deeper, on the hope and transformation found in Him. Afterward, each guest received a Gospel of John to take home, along with a warm meal and heartfelt conversation.

As Daniel shared, “We pray that the seeds of the Gospel planted that night will grow and bear fruit.”

The Gospel Cannot Be Stopped

Reading these stories reminds us that persecution never silences the Gospel; it often amplifies it.

Even when governments tighten the screws, God is using that pressure to propel His Word forward. Every Gospel of John you help provide is a tool in His hands, slipping past barriers, multiplying hope, and introducing people to Jesus in the hardest places.

Thank you for standing with The Pocket Testament League and with our brothers and sisters in China as we continue helping people meet Jesus, one Gospel at a time.
