Ezra 9:8
"But now, for a brief moment, the Lord our God has been gracious in leaving us a remnant and giving us a firm place in his sanctuary, and so our God gives light to our eyes and a little relief in our bondage.
Matthew B. from Katy, TX said:
The Lord our God has been gracious to us today as he has in the past. So many times we don't measure up and yet God gives us grace daily. We need to walk with him and talk with him. Let God know that we love him and ask him to watch over us and forgive us when we fall short during the day. We need to communicate to him throughout the day and walk with him.

When I think of my sins and compare them to my merciful Father who is my forgiving God, I find myself praying this same prayer....wow, what a prayer! I want to ask myself, "what was I thinking when I walked away from God and lived my life away from Him. So with that in mind, "I am ashamed to lift up my face to You cause my sins are higher than my head and my guilt has reached to the heavens." I know we have consequences from our sins and I feel that God should be so angry with me. But my God is an amazing God as He is gracious, has not forsaken me, He shows kindness, and He gives me protection. Yes, God You have punished me less than what my sins deserve. Thank you God for comforting me and giving me relief of my guilt and giving me light to my eyes that I may see Your truths. I am so touched by Your love for me.....Thank you God.

It seems that again and again the Israelites never seem to learn. Someone like Ezra, repents for them and God is gracious and gives another chance. But how long will He keep giving chances to people who keep turning their backs on His commands. We see it in North America again today, where once God was put first in general but we keep on deleting Him from our lives. God, cause Your people to understand Your promise in 2Chronicles 7:14 and give You a chance to fulfill Your promise to heal our land, which I believe is just as valid today as the day You spoke it to Your people Israel. Amen.
