Jeremiah 2:2
"Go and proclaim in the hearing of Jerusalem:"This is what the Lord says: " 'I remember the devotion of your youth,
how as a bride you loved me
and followed me through the wilderness,
through a land not sown.
how as a bride you loved me
and followed me through the wilderness,
through a land not sown.

Jeremiah 2:2 – Seems to me all through the bible people or nations are backsliding or drifting away from The True and Living God to other gods. Then there is a rival and then a cooling off season, then an ice cold season, something like the season, summer (hot, or fire) fall (starting to cool off) winter (ice cold) and spring (resurrection). Obviously we see this in America right now; we are headed into an ice cold winter relationship with Jehovah. But maybe this is a good thing because Jesus said I rather you were hot or cold, not lukewarm. If we get cold enough maybe we will see people coming to the Lord and we will have a rival and get on fire for Jesus once more. It also seems to me like churches also go through a season of backsliding. They start off with a young pastor working a full time job outside the church. The main focus is knowing God and making Him known. They reach out to those in need, serving the community and then they begin to grow. Then the focus is more on the building and gossiping about disputes with people within the church. The church is growing in numbers but defiling the Temple of God that lives within them. I not only see it in the bible, in our nations, and in our churches, I see it in people. They start off talking about Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, then it’s about what the church is spending money on and why did they change this program and not the other. I suppose I see it in my own life in different areas also. I don’t understand why in bible times people drifted from the Lord, or why nations today drift from the Lord, or why churches today drift from the Lord or why my own heart and mind drift from the Lord, but I am thankful that God never allows me to go out of His reach. His arm is not too short to grab me back into the fold before I go wondering into trouble. Why drink of a dirty stinking cistern when we can have the True Living Water that fully satisfies our souls. Why try to find satisfaction in materialism, worldly pleasures or relationships that will only leave us thirsty for more.

God proclaiming his gospel in rememberance of his son king Jesus. He is our holy days. Our holy one. Who brought us out of Egypt. How we follow Jesus through the wilderness and dry place desserts and he brings us great blessings. And he reminds us he hasn't forgotten us. But when we are disobedient he chastise us. We weren't blessed until we found Jesus and became followers of Jesus christ. Jesus saves us and he delivers us.
