Leviticus 27:26
" 'No one, however, may dedicate the firstborn of an animal, since the firstborn already belongs to the Lord; whether an ox or a sheep, it is the Lord 's.

There are times when I believe some chapters of the Old Testament are not relevant to our days. I suspect that there are deeper meaning in this chapter than I understand. For me Leviticus chapter 27 is one of the chapters. However, I do have a comment on verse 26. I am the first born to my parents and if I am not mistaken according to what I've read and heard as a first born child I am already God's. I have never really thought about this before but if I would have been in Egypt the night the Angel of Death made an appearance I may have been killed. One thing I have noticed is as the first born of 3 brothers and 1 sister I am the only one that has been faithful to the church I belong to and to Jesus. We were all baptized into the church but I am the only one who has taken my water and spirit baptism and formed an unbreakable intimate relationship with Jesus. And our first born of 2 sons is following in my footsteps. Which leaves me wondering about what it really means to be a first born. Gary

Sometimes we think we are making an offering to the Lord by giving the tithe, but the tithe is already belongs to the Lord. It is when we give above the tithe that it is an offering. Actually everything belongs to the Lord, but if we want to show our love for the Lord we must give above the tithe. It's not how much we give, it's how much it cost us.

I look at the first born as our tithe which is our minimum gift to the LORD. We have to know that all things belong to GOD, who is just letting us be stewards.

Good point, Don. Maybe that's why, being the first born, the Lord saved me and the rest of the family is yet to come. I'm still praying, Lord, expecting Your answer.
