Matthew 2:16
When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi.

One thought I had this year that I'd never thought of before, is that the Magi had dedicated very likely a minimum of four years of their lives to find the Saviour! I can't even begin to imagine taking four years out of our lives, out of our income-earning, no matter how much I love Jesus! Thankfully, He asks us for our everything, which means whatever it is that we do, we can do for Him! Even when we take care of ourselves, our family, our neighbours, it's all for His glory!!! :D

It has always bothered me that so many boys (babies to 2 years) were murdered at that time. What a horrible man Herod was.

I am reminded of the killing of the unborn in the mother's womb through abortion, a great scourge to our country. I pray that we as a people will repent and have abortion eliminated completely in our nation so the Lord can bless us.

I think this shows us a difference from the traditional Christmas story that we have been told, because if the Magi had shown up while Jesus was still in the manger, then why would Herod instruct his men to kill all babies 2 years and under? This means Jesus could have been as much as 2 years old when the magi came to worship Him.

What a horribe man Herod was. What kind of a man orders children under two be be murdered. He must have been very afraid of what might happen if Jesus grew up. Those poor mothers.
