Nehemiah 5:16
Instead, I devoted myself to the work on this wall. All my men were assembled there for the work; we did not acquire any land.

Nehemiah did his best to govern with an honorable rule, even when other officials attempted to leach from the common people to benefit themselves. Nehemiah always confronted the other leaders, regarding their inappropriate actions. In the end he sought the Lord to favor him for his honorable actions toward the people.

Amen Lloyd Amen I like your choice of words "leach." Nehemiah was a man of integrity and he had the fear of the Lord,he didn't use his position for personal gain like the previous governors. He served the public with a pure heart and did not take advantage of them. And God blest him for his actions.Blessings brother as we draw closer for the return of The King. Do you guys wear masks when out and about?

Only wear them if we have to Peter. Most stores demand them now but some do not. Cheers...!!! :-)

Greed and desire for profits over other people’s expenses or through their suffering is a stumbling block that will separate us from the love of God. For how could we walk in love and with love, that is Christ Jesus, if we do not love each other truly from the heart? God is love and if we do not love, we do not know Him. Nehemiah did not acquire land for himself though he was appointed governor over Judah. He did not try to gain benefits from the people like the way the previous governor and his assistants did. Instead he devoted himself fully to the work of the Lord. Nothing lasts forever, not even life itself, but only one thing will last and will last for eternity, that is the love of God in Christ Jesus for all of us. And God’s love is enough for us all to share with everyone around us. Those who have will be given more, so continue to give love to people around us because the more love we give, the more love we will receive.

This is beautiful Derek. We get so caught up in things instead of people.

Keeping my eyes on the Lord and living my life for Him is my prayer. God, please help me to stay on track and show me how I can be used by You. I want to give to You, work for You, live for You and not expecting anything in return. I want to be as Nehemiah, devoting myself for the work as You called them to do and not acquiring anything ....Just You, my Heavenly Father.
