Romans 12:19
Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord.

To me this means that no matter what someone does to me, God see's all & know's all and will fight my battles. I need only stand still and let God be God. Hallelujah...Thank You Abba!!:-)

It is not our place to 'get back' at someone who has done us wrong. As Christians, we are to show mercy, not show evil for evil. We have a Father in Heaven who takes care of His children.

There were at least 5 verses that I could pull out of this chapter that I could easily comment on but I will chose the one that brings back memories. This verse coincides with Matt 5:39 "But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also." Well that was how I was raised I was not always successful (especially with family) but I did try to the point that when a bully was bulling me in 7th and 8th grade I turned the other cheek even when I felt like slugging him. In 9th grade we were placed in another class together he tried to do it again and again I turned the other cheek but then I didn't see him in that class anymore shortly after which I was perfectly fine with, I found out later that he was booted out of the school altogether for doing drugs...that was great revenge and I didn't even have to lift a finger. Then 20 years later I run into him again and find out that now his wife supports him and he is the stay at home dad of 2 girls meaning that now he has to worry about bullies picking of them and he went completly bald. No where near the hotshot he thought he was when he was younger. Thank You God for taking the revenge.

Hi Cheryl. Yes, vengence belongs to God and I'm glad you put it in God's hands. But keep in mind to be merciful and love your enemies. When Jesus was on the cross, he wasn't being bullied, he was being killed by those he loved. And rather than seek vengence, he said "father, forgive them for they know not what they do". Granted, the punishment must fit the crime. What recently happened in Colorado, people want to see the gunman die - and he should (an eye for an eye), but we should still pray for him because that is what Jesus taught. I also liked your comments you mentioned to Lloyd; I commented there too. And by the way, we'll be nieghbors soon. We're moving to Vallejo, CA in a few weeks. God bless. ( :

This also means does not mean "OK lord... get them good". Because I can not tell you how many times I could have argued back (especially with the religious) and in the end God would not get ANY glory. However I have seen those times that should "they have succeded", when events take place in their activities where I did not have to get revenge on them. Sometimes you could almost hear God say, "I took care of it and BTW you were right".
