Romans 13:3
For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended.

In this day and age I find that hard to believe anymore. Where I live I see "authority" bulling the innocent like the homeless that make their camps in the secluded areas tearing down their campsites and harrassing them. Not only are these campsites out of the public view but as I have built a relationship with some of them and got to know them , they like us they don't like to bring issues into their home. Someone harrasing them in public isn't welcomed in their home. The police said they are doing this because someone complained but that complainer ended up stealing the unguarded personal items like sleeping bags etc. as soon as the site was unmanned. I have seen people that held the high role as police become drug dealers when cutbacks cause them to loose that job. The corruption in the police department in my area is astronomical, and my area isn't the only place didn't the justice department take over the New Orleans Police Department just days ago citing that it was the most corrupt department in the COUNTRY! And what is worse is that it is going to get worse! AKA FEMA camps

I totally understand you Cheryl. I've seen on WND news lately, several people who have been harassed by officials for conducting Bible studies and prayer meetings in their homes. I checked the Barnes Commentary notes on this verse and here is what it said: For rulers - The apostle here speaks of rulers “in general.” It may not be “universally” true that they are not a terror to good works, for many of them have “persecuted” the good; but it is generally true that they who are virtuous have nothing to fear from the laws. It is “universally” true that the design of their appointment by God was, not to injure and oppress the good, but to detect and punish the evil. Magistrates, “as such,” are not a terror to good works. This is where we are going to have to stand firm in our faith and trust God to bring good form it all. Blessings, sister.

I understand you Cheryl. I have seen several reports of late where people were harassed for having Bible studies and prayer meetings in their homes. I checked a Bible commentary and it did say that in general that was the rule but that corrupt authority did occur. I'm not quoting it directly but that was the overview. Sometimes it's hard to understand but I believe we have to stand firm in our faith that God will somehow bring good from or through our tribulation, which it says we will have. I rather like what Matthew 13:21 says: But he has no root in himself, and is temporary. For when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the Word, he immediately stumbles. Blessings, Cheryl.

This is so true even today if we haven't done anything wrong why should we fear the laws of our land. If we are obeying Gods law we are obeying all laws if I understand what I have read today. That's what is wrong with today people think they can do anything they want and not be punished for it and that is wrong. If we believe in God we believe in the law.
