Supply and demand. The people want their ears tickled, and so the ministers tickle them. We live in a time when observations are called judgements and words of reproof are scoffed at. A person that depends on a paycheck from you will always tell you exactly what you want to hear. I assure you though, not all churches are like that. If you have been going to a church for more than a month and conviction hasn't been put on you to the point that you did something about it, then find a new pulpit to sit behind. The reproofs of discipline are THE way of life. If Jesus preached some of the sermons I have heard He would have never been crucified. Honestly brother, it bothers me that the world couldn't get along with Jesus and yet it gets along so well with us.

no problem re gender! We have been searching for a church and so far have found they don't want to seem to preach on hell, just really nice stuff about heaven. Jesus mentioned hell many times and in the bible it is mentioned more times than heaven. That tells me something!!
