Titus 1:6
An elder must be blameless, faithful to his wife, a man whose children believe and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient.

Paul left Titus in Crete's to appoint elders in each town. To be appointed as an elder/manager of Gods household an elder must be blameless, faithful to his wife, a man whose children believe and are not open to the charge of be.ing wild and disobedient. This scripture says to me that an elder must be respectful and respected, he has to be a faithful man, his children must believe in Christ and obedient as such. He has to be a man that can lead Gods people and one that man can follow in the name of Jesus. His family has to be obedient as he is obedient to Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

An excellent of qualifications for elders. Its becoming harder to find such men who meet each and every characteristic. Does that mean they should not be placed in that role?

This verse means to mean that God is looking for someone that he can trust and trust in him to keep his commandment in order to teach others to the truth and the word of God

Elders have to be able to teach and live under God's commandments. So he must be pure and true to the word of God. An elder's family must be pure in words and actions. His family must also be believer in God our savior. How can they teach and ask us to believe and be obedient to God's words if his not?

This verse (and the following verses - 7, 8, and 9) are clear directives for elders, pastors and all who are in leadership in the Body of Christ. Proof positive that God equips those whom He calls into ministry by leading them and guiding them through His Word. He doesn't leave us to our own devices, but gives us clear direction. All we have to do is read, trust, and obey.
