This is a statement that believers need to live by. Do not just say we love bt show our love to each other in actions of love and be a witness to the world. Lord, help me to love as you loved me in my sin and lead me out. Amen

We cannot show love just with words but we have to show love with our actions. Jesus showed his love for us by bearing our sin, dying on a cross and being spat upon.

This verse reminds me of a saying I used to hear when I was much younger: "Talk is cheap." In many cases, this seems to be very true. People will "talk" a lot but are not able to back up their talk with actions. I can tell you "I love you" all day long, but if I know that you're hungry and don't offer you anything to eat, then my words really mean nothing at all. Lord, help me to be not just a doer of Your word, but also a doer of my own words in order to show true love to my fellowman.

We hear the same idea and admonition from James and Paul as well - be doers of the word and not just hearers. And of course the Great Commandment - love God and love your neighbor as yourself. Integrity is important. God wants this and the world need to see it. Thanks be to God for His grace and mercy Who gives us His Spirit that we might live ...with integrity. Can't do it on my own!
