2 Chronicles 28:23
He offered sacrifices to the gods of Damascus, who had defeated him; for he thought, "Since the gods of the kings of Aram have helped them, I will sacrifice to them so they will help me." But they were his downfall and the downfall of all Israel.

I think this verse tells us that when we leave God out of our decisions and decide for ourselves before asking if it is "His will"; we should also be prepared for any or all consequences. Also there is only one God that we should worship and be faithful to and that is our Lord & Savior.

Yes, our God is a jealous God and He will have no other god's before Him or in His presence.

Yes, Sherry and Nancy, He's jealous "for" us like a loving parent that wants only the best for us and knows when we look outside of Him for anything we're playing with fire and will get burned. Papa good remind me that YOU are my source for EVERYTHING and that You only want what's best for me.

Ahaz not only was causing his own destruction but the destruction of his own people by forsaking the ways of the Lord. Lord, help me never to forsake Your principles but to always look to You for guidance. Amen

Yes, Nancy and Lloyd. Our sin DOES hurt others. That's what makes it so painful...when we see someone we love suffer for something we did, it hurts worse.

I need strength and guidance everyday, every minute of the day from our dear Lord and Savior. But I will continue to be committed and stand firm on the rock and pray for forgiveness as I do not mean to ever hurt anyone purposely. I pray the Lord shows me always the right choices to make.

In times of trouble, I have two choices to make of who I will turn to.....worldly friends or God. I have made the mistake of choosing friends and their ways depending on them to give me short lived fun and advice. But at the end of the day, where are they when I am alone and stuck with all my thoughts. So it would become a cycle to keep on depending on friends and their worldly pleasures and at the same time becoming even more unfaithful to the Lord. As much as my friends seemed to care, they were my downfall. However, I have turned to God in times of trouble and the peace that He gave me was not short lived. His words of encouragement and love stayed with me at all times whether I was with others or alone. God, please give me the strength to stay close to You, follow your ways, and not turn my back on you when this world offers short lived fun.

I agree Patsy, as my Pastor said today in church..."The walk of a Christian is daily, and that is the downfall"; meaning it is a hard daily walk that we must do but if we keep looking to the Lord and let HIM make our decisions instead of us, we will always come out the winner. Since becoming a Christian I have lost all friends, even very close family members and I know what it is to feel lonely because I don't do the things I used to. But I always try to remember the Lord says he will not forsake and that HE is the same today as yesterday and that HE does love me. I pray for HIS strength everyday.
