I need help understanding this confusing chapter. When the people offer animals to the Lord. What specifically does this mean? Where is the animal taken, and after it is offered, what happens to the animal? Dedicating land, people? What exactly does this mean? I am not sure what the custom was back then. Please help me understand this chapter.

If we offer ourselves as a sacrifice to the Lord, it becomes holy; in the customs of the Old Testament, we would offer sacrifices such as a lamb to the Lord our God in order to cleanse ourselves from sin. How much greater will we be cleansed if we offer ourselves as holy to the Lord!

This is a very confusing chapter. Does God turn his back on the weak and deformed? Can someone explain this verse for me? I am new to reading the Bible, but find that God seems very cruel to some of his people, especially in this verse, the weak and deformed. Please help me understand this chapter.

God loves and accepts all of His children. Back in the days before Jesus no one could come before God except the priests who had to go through all kinds of rituals and cleansing just to be holy enough. If you read the chapters before this the animals and food that people brought for sin offerings had to be free of defects too. All of these rules and rituals were done so that when Jesus came He was the perfect holy sacrifice so that all of Gods children could come before him.We were made holy like the priests because of Jesus's blood. I hope I explained it right.

Yes, it is nice to have someone explain a lot of the confusing passages in the Bible. We can so easily misinterpret a lot of them. Thanks again.

Norma, it is good that you are open to asking questions when you don't understand. That shows you are open to learn and I commend you for it. I believe Lori has expressed the meaning quite well. God bless you.

I am not sure I understand this verse. Did this verse say that God instructed the people to murder 3000 brothers, friends and family members? Appreciate any interpretation for this verse.
