This verse is proof that it was Holy Spirit who supernaturally impregnated Mary, since Joseph had no physical intimacy with Mary until she had given birth to Jesus. This shows that nothing is impossible for our God. Praise You Mighty God

Joseph was just a man. Many people today-- of all genders-- do not have self-control.This verse tells us that God chose a man who was self-controlled as the earthly father of the Messiah. Today we would call Joseph a step-father. How many step-fathers today have the compassion and self-control of Joseph. Joseph was likely not a man to hit children out of anger or loss of control. If you met the carpenter Joseph, what do you think his personality would be like?

To me this verse means that true obedience to God is not selfish and that Joseph cared in his heart so greatly that he could do as he was told to do and his mind gave what task he had to do great thought.
