2 Corinthians 2:7
Now instead, you ought to forgive and comfort him, so that he will not be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow.
Mary P.
Mary P. from Bargersville, IN said:
When someone confesses their sin we are to forgive them and offer them our love, to discipile them to stay strong in the Lord, otherwise they will be tempted again due to guilt they may have over their past sin.

1 Corinthians 15:29
Now if there is no resurrection, what will those do who are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why are people baptized for them?

Again I stumble across a verse I do not fully comprehend, would appreciate anyone input on this verse for me. I rejoice though in verse 56-58, that our victory over sin and death is in our Lord Jesus Christ and we are to stand firm in our faith in our everyday struggles. Walking His Spirit daily in our work for Him!

Another one of those confusing Scriptures, Mary, but what appears to have been happening was that people were being baptized for those who had already died believing they would make heaven, but as I see it, if we don't receive Christ while alive, then it is too late. (Heb 9:27) Paul does not elaborate on his statement, so it leaves it open to discussion. God bless, Mary.

1 Corinthians 13:5
It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

Mary P. from Bargersville, IN said:
This verse means to me that I must love completely in action to others, showing honor to them, not seeking my own will and what can build me up, but how I can build others up in Christ's love, not to allow myself to get angered over petty things against those I love and are trying reach out to for Christ, and I definitely must not hold on to others past mistakes of things they have done to hurt me, I must be forgiving and allow Christ's Love to cover those areas of my life and theirs as I seek to be Christ's Love to them. More people have been lost to Christ because that can't forgive one another's wrongdoings in His Love!

So true, Mary. Oh, to be able to love as Christ loves me, dying an excruciating death on the cross of Calvary, for me, would be be a tremendous task, and one I strive for but have noit yet to fully accomplished.

Lloyd, that is what I strive for in my walk with Christ, it is not an easy task in the world we live, but the secret is walking each day in His Spirit's control in complete surrender of our bodies as a living sacrifice to God. Romans 12:1 God's Blessings to you!!

It is for this reason that a woman ought to have authority over her own head, because of the angels.

I am not sure what this verse means so I am asking for help from anyone who can explain this verse to me in the context of this chapter 11 of Corinthians in what Paul was talking about woman being in authority under man. Appreciate any response and help. Thank you!

You're not alone Mary.Even the commentaries I checked on the verse were rather vague, as to an actual explanation, and I believe it is not clear to the commentator. If someone has an absolute explanation of this passage, then I'm open. God bless you Mary.

1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

Mary P.
Mary P. from Bargersville, IN said:
No matter what situation comes into our lives , we are not the first ones who has had to endure it, others have been in it before us, God will in His faith, mercy and grace , will lead us through those valleys and trials by His Spirit as we allow Him the control. We are not tempted by God but by satan, (James 1:14) and if we are believers in Christ, His Spirit paves the way for to overcome satan's attempts to pull us away from God by trials in our lives. Stand firm for God has overcome!! (1 John 4:4)

1 Corinthians 8:9
Be careful, however, that the exercise of your rights does not become a stumbling block to the weak.
Mary P.
Mary P. from Bargersville, IN said:
There are some things in my walk with Christ that I believe is a sin to me like drinking alcohol, and yet there are some of my believer brothers and sisters who believe that a glass of wine or a social drink is not sin to them. We are all in different levels of our growth in our relationship with Christ and need to be careful of how we judge one another and not be a stumbling block to our new Christians and those who are weak in their faith. We need to uplift and encourage one another with words that will minister grace to the hearers. Ephesians 4:29

And if a woman has a husband who is not a believer and he is willing to live with her, she must not divorce him.

Mary P. from Bargersville, IN said:
If I am married to an unbelieving husband, who desires to stay married to me then I must in no way think of divorcing him.

I was married for 18yrs. to an unbelieving husband and prayed for his salvation, he allowed me and our 3 children to attend church faithfully, then at age 40 he accepted the Lord as his Savior, we have now been married for 44 yrs.
