2 Chronicles 26:16
But after Uzziah became powerful, his pride led to his downfall. He was unfaithful to the Lord his God, and entered the temple of the Lord to burn incense on the altar of incense.
Peter B.
Peter B. from Buchanan, MI said:
Again we see through out some of the kings in the Old Testament, we see here how Gods Blessings can lead to pride. And the judgment that came upon Uzziah for his pride, he had no chance of repentance.
Lloyd S.
Lloyd S. from Trenton, ON said:
Amen Peter. The mighty hand of God falls upon those who turn from Him. Prov 2:7  He lays up sound wisdom for the righteous; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly. Be blessed Peter, as we keep our eyes focused upon Him, thee King of kings.

Patty B. from Dallas, GA said:
Pride can and will ruin even the best of kings and people. God had been with Uzziah in all things and because of God he became powerful. Us he allowed himself to become full of pride. Lord, I pray you will always show me when I become prideful, help me to see it.

Pride is surely a destroyer, Patty. God bless you and yours.

Terry J.
Terry J. from Hinsdale, NY said:
Just like his father Uzziah's pride got the best of him. He wasn't content with just being the king. He decided he could do the work of the priests as well. God judged him by giving him leprosy. There is only one King-Priest. His name is Jesus Christ. He is from the tribe of Judah but he has a unique priesthood in the order of Melchizedek. His priesthood is better than Aaron's because He is a priest forever!
Lloyd S.
Lloyd S. from Trenton, ON said:
Amen to that, Terry. There surely is no priest like Him. Oh for the day we reside with Him, in His presence. God bless

Pride and Arrogance brought down a good and successful king. Pride can take down Nations, Pride was the first Sin, it created Lucifer the most beautiful created angel. God hates a prideful heart, every sin can be forgiven if we humble ourselves before God and confess it to the Lord.
Lloyd S.
Lloyd S. from Trenton, ON said:
Amen, Peter. Pride opens the door to evil, and sadly it didn't end with him. There lots of it today but it can still be destructive if we let it get the better of us. God bless.

Renee E. from Goodyear, AZ said:
This verse points out our human vulnerability to want to be the "god" over our lives, controlling what ever seems right in our eyes. The consequences for Uzziah were sadly just. A warning that no matter what good we've done isn't weighed against bad as this chapter clearly describes.

Pride can definitely get in a persons way and send them off stumbling over their own feet. It seems harmless that he wanted to burn incense to the Lord and honor the Lord but it was clearly not the Lords will. Seek first the will of God then act accordingly. Do not let boastful pride bring you down!!

In humility we can see God and through humility others will see God in us. Pride will only lead us further away from God because the Lord resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. Dear Lord, please help me to be less prideful and more humble like you everyday. In Jesus name I earnestly pray. Amen.

Pride cometh before a fall. Here is a real life example. We also have seen many In our life time who also have taken a tumble. All the glory must go to God for any success we might enjoy.

Lloyd S. from Trenton, ON said:
Uzziah became prideful in his success and his pride turned him from his obedience to the Lord and it destroyed him. As Uzziah followed the Lord he was granted success but when he became prideful, thinking he was someone special, then he became arrogant and thought he was someone special. At that point the Lord humbled him with leprosy until he died. Help me, Lord, regardless of success or failure to be humble before You, Creator of all things, that I may not offend You and think myself more important than others and be faithful to my Savior, Lord Jesus Christ, who died for me and all my brothers and sisters in Christ, and rose again conquering death. Amen
