But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.

Key words: The wisdom that comes from Heaven is pure. I believe in this chapter James is distinguishing the difference between God's wisdom and worldly wisdom. Worldly wisdom encourages us to be selfish and greedy, and puts our interests before the needs others. Godly wisdom leads to Peace, Love and Sincerity. Referring to James 1: 5 If anyone lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

Very well expressed, Peter. The tongue can be an instrument of blessing or one of curses but God wants us to use our tongue to be a witness of our faith and trust in Him. We were at a marvelous prayer meeting tonight that was so encouraging. There were prophetic words, and words of knowledge that were most encouraging. It was a meeting we attend once a month and there were 23 dedicated believers there tonight a couple who were relatively new believers and there wee prophetic words spoken over them. What a joyous time we had. God bless you my brother in Christ, as we watch the Lord do His marvelous work. :-)

I strive to become as the scripture says and keep my tongue under wrap speaking only what God would want me to speak!

Pure is wisdom, pure in what? Pure in your faith for Christ. Having him as your only God and not anything else, not money, not your job, not dreams. Peace-loving is wisdom. the apostle Paul says live at peace with everyone. Picking a fight with anything or anyone you disagree with is not a healthy lifestyle. Peace is one of the fruits of the Spirit. Considerate is a wisdom. To care for others as yourself is what Jesus taught us to do. We must be more considerate of others and less concerning about ourselves, that way we allow Christ's love to pour into us and work through us. Submissive is a wisdom. Most of us think that if we win an argument then we are wise. The opposite is true. To be able to let yourself be defeated when you are fully capable of winning over an argument is a hard thing to do, especially when it's in front of many. But by doing so, you show that Christ is more important to you than to win over a silly argument. Mercy is a wisdom as we learn from James 2 because mercy can defeat judgement and those who is merciful will themselves be shown mercy. Good fruit is wisdom. Pick a fruit from Galatians 5:22-23 and bear it in your life. Any of those fruits will give you wisdom. Impartial is a wisdom because you cannot let yourself be partly believing and partly doubting. You must show complete and utter faith in our LORD. Sincerity is a wisdom because everything must come from the heart. Do not pretend to love your neighbor, but love them truly from the heart. Don't tithe because you see the person next to you tithe, do it because you wanted to from your heart. God is not one who judges from the outside but he judges the heart. May God fill us all with these heavenly wisdom so that we will be genuine in our faith and loving toward others.

What a lovely definition of wisdom! When I ask God for wisdom, I think more of decision-making, rather than this attitude or way of thinking or acting toward others.

This verse made me think of my father. He loved the Lord, was a man of peace, and full of the kind of wisdom described here in this verse.

Jesus provides this kind of wisdom ... in fact we have this wisdom available if we have Jesus in us by His Holy Spirit. When we respond like this we are Christ-like. How many times. even as a believer, have I responded inappropriately using my tongue? Sanctify (purify) my tongue O Lord and forgive me for those things that have been said by my "old" self. May my tongue be under your control and one that is used to build up and encourage others.
