Numbers 17:8
The next day Moses entered the tent and saw that Aaron's staff, which represented the tribe of Levi, had not only sprouted but had budded, blossomed and produced almonds.

I think the main idea of this chapter deals with twelve staffs that were broken pieces of dead wood. And we see in this verse that the staff of Aaron came Alive and blossomed and was fruitful. This verse reminds me of John 15: 5-8 I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in Me and I in you, you will Bear Much Fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in Me you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, and thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in Me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done. This is my Fathers Glory that you bear much Fruit showing yourselves to be My disciples. As Christians we have Life In Jesus Christ.

Well expressed and backed up, Peter. It appears in this chapter that the people did not desire to follow the representative the Lord had chosen, namely Aaron. Have a glorious week Peter, as we follow our glorious leader, namely, Jesus Christ, King of kings and Lord of lords. :-)

Numbers 17: 7-8  And Moses laid up the rods before the LORD in the tabernacle of witness. 8  And it came to pass, that the next day Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was sprouted, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds. These rods are the staffs/rods that the leaders used. They were VERY old, and quite dead. Probably handed down from their forefathers. Aaron's rod is the same rod that, if you'll remember in Exodus, he threw it down, it turned into a snake, Pharoahs cronies, Jannes and Jambres, threw theirs down, and they turned into snakes as well. Then, Aaron's snake/staff/rod, ate Jannes and Jambres snakes/staffs/rods, then turned back into a staff/rod. So, Moses goes in the next morning to see that Aaron's rod came to life, bloomed, budded and brought forth fruit, and the rest of the rods remained unchanged. So, this established God's statement that Aaron was indeed to be the high priest. Verses 12 &13 are very telling. They all came and said to Moses that if any of us approach the tabernacle that they'll die and be consumed.   This is a telling example of unrepentant rebellion. Of course they can't approach God in their own strength with no repentance! They're STILL angry with Moses and Aaron for not taking them into the Promised Land, when it was THEIR rebellion that refused to go in in the first place. They're doing what all rebels do, refusing to recognize, take responsibility and repent for their sin of rebellion. If someone won't take responsibility for themselves, what are they left with? Looking for someone else to blame. Rebellion ALWAYS blames someone else for their problems, and NEVER likes to be told, no matter how nicely it's presented, that it's wrong. If you're going from one relationship to another, whether it's a job or personal, and keep having the same issues of inability to get along, what's the common denominator? Look in the mirror, it's YOU!  Wherever you go, you're there. Rebellion ALWAYS presents itself as a victim. The sssssserpent issssss very sssssubtle. It comessssss hissssssing around telling you that ssssssssomehow, God isssssss holding out on you. The enemy and his Ephesians 6 kingdom are NOT gentlemen. They'll come in in a very weak moment and tell you a lie about God. That's where, according to 2 Corinthians 10, we're to cast down every thought, then, take it captive to the obedience of Christ. You CAN'T take it captive unless you cast it down! Always remember, our weapons aren't carnal (physical). We're NO match for the enemy in the physical. The enemy ALWAYS wants to bring it to the physical, because he knows we'll lose EVERY time. Accusation is the cog in the wheel that keeps the enemy's kingdom rolling. It started in the garden where the serpent accused God to Eve. Then, when God asked, "who told you you were naked?" Adam accused God for giving him the woman and the woman for tempting him. See, it always points the finger at someone else. See, the wheel goes around, with accusation as the cog, taking us away from God and the road is ALWAYS rebellion. No matter what path it came in from, it ALWAYS ends up on the same road, rebellion, which, according to 1 Samuel 15:23, is the same as witchcraft. We can't EVER defend ourselves without participating in accusation ourselves, because we're accusing them of lying. All thru these chapters, Moses NEVER defended himself. You see that EVERY time he was approached by these rebels, he fell on his face, and trusted God. I'm sure he must've had a flat nose by now, lol. God ALWAYS defended Moses. When Jesus was in His sham-trial, He never defended Himself. It looked like, because He didn't defend Himself, He lost, and the enemy won. But on the 3rd day, guess what? Jesus WON over the enemy's kingdom. And because of that, WE WIN! But we MUST appropriate it in our lives. God WON'T do it for us. Papa God,  I know that ANY area of my life that's not submitted to You is fair game for the enemy. So please search me, oh, Papa God, and show me ANY of these wicked ways that cause me to participate with the enemy, that I can recognize, take responsibility and repent for my participation. Then, and ONLY then, can I cast it down and take it captive, in Jesus name, Amen

The Budding of Aaron's Rod: Aarons rod/branch became Alive a Fruitful, Aarons staff blooms because it's attached to a life source God himself. If we have a Life source in our lives it's because we are attached to Christ. John 15: 5 - 8 I am the vine; you(we) are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. Amen, Peter. And the verses you stated from John 15:5-8, shows that the once saved always saved is false teaching. If we drift away, back into our sin nature, our salvation will be lost. God bless, brother.

They were not as moved by the earth swallowing up 250 people as they were when Aaron's rod blossomed. How do we know Jesus is the One we should follow? They asked Jesus for a sign and He said, as Jonah was in the belly of a fish, so shall the Son of Man be int the grave. The one sign that proves Jesus is the One who has all authority is His resurrection from the grave, His blossoming back to life. True leaders will have the fruit of the Spirit in their lives and the fruit of the spirit is love.
