Psalms 42:11
Why, my soul, are you downcast?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
my Savior and my God.

From a text comment David Guzik Why are you cast down, O my soul: The psalmist paused from the painful memory to challenge his own soul. He did not surrender to his feelings of spiritual depression and discouragement. Instead, he challenged them and brought them before God. He said to those cast down and disquieted feelings, "Hope in God. He will come through again, because He has before." . Hope in God: The pleasant words of Psalm 42:5 are repeated as both important and helpful. The psalmist -- and everyone buried under discouragement -- needed to keep hope in God and keep confidence that he shall yet praise Him. Me It's easy to get discouraged and your mind can bring you to the lowest of lows. It is important to arm ourselves with Gods word so that when we are taunted by discouraging experiences our mind and thoughts have the knowledge of God to bring us to thoughts of hope and Gods love. We can always find some valid reasons for discouragement; but there were many more reasons for hope.

Why do we get discouraged? There are many reasons but here David reminds us there is a way out. It's found in the hope we have in God thanks to Jesus Christ. No matter what we may be experiencing in life Jesus has already experienced it and won the victory over it. Therefore the next time we get discouraged let's turn our discouragement to praise and thanksgiving to the One who saved us! Hope is spelled JESUS!

Psalm 42:11 – David is saying to himself………Wait a minute, what am I doing? Why am I depressed, why am I giving up, just because people are saying that God deserted me doesn’t mean that He did. In fact, I know He didn’t and He wouldn’t, He couldn’t. He has rescued me before and He will again. I have a choice to make, I can choose to feel sorry for myself and agree about what people are saying about me or I can put my Hope in God. Maybe I can’t praise God with the multitude but I can praise Him anytime, anywhere, because God inhabits the praises of His people. He is my Savior and my God! Father in Heaven, many times i have said the same thing. i start to feel alone, frightened and depressed, then i remember that i am a child of the King. i then wake-up, put my hope in you and praise Your Holy name. Oh how praising You fills my soul with gladness in the mist of trials.

As I read this Psalm it brings to mind the times I wonder why God does not act to bring my friends and acquaintances whom I care about, and have been praying for, to salvation. Then I have to stop and think, that God's time table is different than mine, and I have to leave it to Him because lest His Spirit calls them, brings the revelation of their need to their hearts, they cannot come. I just have to be patient and wait and continue to pray with faith, believing that He has a plan, and He will accomplish it giving me occasion to praise Him once again. Thank You Lord, for Your faithfulness and give ME patience and a greater measure of faith. Amen

Bro. Lloyd, if this is any consolation 2 u, Noah preached/prayed/ admonished the people for 120 years, yet they hardened their hearts, only 8 people made it in and All the Animals of every kind!. Yes, God wished that none should be peroshef!..but it's still, whosoever will let him/her come..You have prayed, which means you have planted a seed, someone else may come along and water that seed! And God in due season will bring the increase! Just let your light continue to shine, keep praying, ( Pray for something/someone else), Just don't beat upon yourself!.. Keep moving God got you back!.. Be Encouraged & Live 4 God everyday, your friends will see you, and want what you got!..Then give them Jesus.. ( Remember, Whosoever will may come).. They will come eventually. God bless u real good

Thanks Joan. We all make little spelling mistakes but it's usually easy to figure out. Yes, I just keep asking God, planting seeds and believing for His answer. It brings to mind the parable of the judge in Luke 18, specifically verse 5; Luk 18:5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. Bye the way, my wife's name is Joan. God bless.
