and Absalom, whom we anointed to rule over us, has died in battle. So why do you say nothing about bringing the king back?"

That which is anointed by man will come to nothing. God did not anoint Absalom man did. God's anoint avails much but mans self promotion means nothing.

Now Absalom happened to meet David's men. He was riding his mule, and as the mule went under the thick branches of a large oak, Absalom's hair got caught in the tree. He was left hanging in midair, while the mule he was riding kept on going.

I have always felt like Absaloms hair was a sign of his vanity. In this case has vanity caught him and he was killed.

When Ahithophel saw that his advice had not been followed, he saddled his donkey and set out for his house in his hometown. He put his house in order and then hanged himself. So he died and was buried in his father's tomb.

Did Ziba deceive David to win favor with David? Did he also follow what Absalom did by betraying Mephiboseth.

Absalom was not an offical but acted as if he was to win the hearst of the people. Then rebelled against legitimate authority. Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft.
